Get a Professional email address

Get a Professional Email Address

If you are starting your own small business, you need a professional email address.

When communicating with your potential clients, it looks so much better to have a custom email address (you@yourcompany.com) instead of a random @gmail.com or @hotmail.com address.

It has many advantages. It helps you build credibility, builds trust and can also be much easier for clients to remember.

Setting up an email address is actually a very straightforward process…

Choose a Professional Email Address Service Provider

You could use the same company that hosts your website. For example, Siteground offer an email service using your own domain name.

Although web hosts are great at hosting websites, sadly they are not that great at email, and you might find your emails end up in clients Junk or Spam folders.

My recommendation for a professional email address, and the one I use myself, is Google Workspace.

Get a Domain Name

If you don’t already own a domain name, you need to purchase one.

If you are planning to use Google Workspace, you can buy one directly from Google during the account creation process. Or you can choose to connect one that you already use or purchase directly from a Domain Register.

I use the domain register Namecheap – it does exactly what it says on the tin! Cheap domain names! They also have a one-click instal for the Google Workspace settings to route emails to Google.

I always suggest you get your domain names separate from any web hosting or email accounts – it makes moving and managing the domain names so much easier should you decide to change providers.

Professional Email Address

For a trustworthy professional email address, my number one recommendation is to use Google Workspace.

The email is powered by Google Gmail with very effective spam filters and many handy features that make managing emails a breeze!

Not only does Google Workspace (previously called G Suite) allows you to host your business email using your own domain name, it also has a great suite of other handy Google tools, including Calendars, Drive, Documents, Tasks and their online video meeting platform, Google Meet.

My entire business runs using the range of tools available within Google Workspace!

All from just £4.14 per user per month.

Here is how you get your professional business email using Google Workspace…

Just for fun…

Over the years, many clients have cringed when I ask for their email address – something that was funny in your teens now doesn’t seem relevant. I found this article on Buzzfeed with some really cringe-worthy emails addresses!
