Camera Basics: The Professional Edge
Mastering the Tools of the Trade for Consistent Professional Results - If you’ve attended my "Get More from Your Camera" workshop, you already know how to get off "Auto" and start taking control of your images.
But when you’re transitioning from taking great photos for yourself to being paid to deliver excellence for a client, the stakes change.
In a professional environment—whether it’s the fast-paced nature of a wedding or the precise requirements of a studio portrait—you don’t have time to "fumble" with settings. You need your camera to be an extension of your own eyes.
Elevating Your Technical Skills
This module is designed specifically for budding professional photographers. We take the core fundamentals and apply them to real-world, high-pressure scenarios. It’s about more than just "exposure"; it’s about consistency, speed, and reliability.

This Professional Photography workshop will cover...
- Professional Exposure Mastery: How to achieve perfect skin tones and preserve highlight detail (like the intricate detail of a wedding dress) in challenging lighting.
- Precision Focus Techniques: Moving beyond basic AF to master back-button focusing and tracking modes—essential for sharp images of moving subjects, from toddlers to wedding processions.
- The Depth of Field Strategy: Choosing the right aperture and focal length to create high-end, professional "looks" that separate your work from a hobbyist's.
- Low Light & High-ISO Confidence: Understanding the technical limits of your sensor to produce clean, printable images in dark churches or dimly lit venues.
- Custom Settings for Speed: How to set up your camera’s custom menus and buttons so you can switch from "portrait" to "action" settings in a split second.
- Lens Choice for Professional Impact: A deep dive into why certain lenses are the "industry standard" for portraits and weddings and how to use them to elevate your portfolio.
Is this the right Workshop for me?
This training is specifically designed for:
- Aspiring Professionals: Those who have mastered the basics of "Auto" and "Manual" but want to reach the level of consistency required to charge for their work.
- Portrait & Wedding Photographers: Budding pros who need to handle high-pressure environments where there are no "do-overs."
- Experienced Hobbyists: Anyone looking to refine their technical "know-how" to produce a more polished, professional-looking gallery.
If you are frustrated by inconsistent results or feel that your gear is holding you back from achieving your creative vision, this module is for you.
The Result: Total Creative Control
The ultimate goal of this training is to make your camera invisible. By the end of this module, you won’t be "thinking" about settings; you will be instinctively reacting to the light and the moment.
You will walk away with the technical confidence to walk into any professional shoot knowing exactly how to get the shot right the first time, every time - saving you hours in post-production and ensuring your clients receive a world-class product.
